USA Pro Challenge In Need of Volunteers For Biggest Race Yet

The USA Pro Challenge is in need of volunteers to help with this year’s event, in which competitors will cycle through some of the most scenic regions in Colorado in late summer. The organization wants to encourage fans of the event and cycling enthusiasts to participate in the momentous occasion by volunteering at one of the positions along the 550-mile course, which will take cyclists through such areas as Denver, Boulder, Vail, Breckenridge, Woodland Park, Colorado Springs, Monarch Mountain, Gunnison, Crested Butte, Snowmass, and Aspen

“The thousands of volunteers that donate their time each year play a large part in making the USA Pro Challenge so successful,” said USA Pro Challenge’s CEO, Shawn Hunter. “Our volunteer course marshals are a major component of what makes this event seamless and we couldn’t be more appreciative of their time and energy.”

These volunteer course marshals will support the professional course marshals who travel with the Tour as well as local law enforcement agents. This means any and every fan has the extraordinary opportunity to be present on the race track — right by the action — so that they can monitor pedestrian traffic, street closures, and most importantly the barricades, which help control the crowd, restrict access, and provide safety for pedestrians

According to Hunter, “Every year we strive to create a route that will challenge the riders in new ways, give spectators more opportunities to see some of the toughest athletes in the world and highlight new parts of Colorado.”

In its short history, the race has become a thing of mythic proportions as its organizers constantly try to improve upon the previous year’s event. Television coverage of the race reaches more than 175 countries, with well over 1 million spectators lined up along the course last year.

With the two new additions to the course — Monarch Mountain and Woodland Park — the race will surely be historic. Any fan of the USA Pro Challenge should seize the opportunity to volunteer, and be part of the occasion.

“We’ve set out to create the greatest professional cycling event in the U.S. with the USA Pro Challenge,” said race owner Rick Schaden in a statement. “The 2014 route will be a challenge for the riders and will provide plenty of great viewing opportunities for the spectators. This year is looking like it will be the best yet.”
